  3. Gently insert the floss between two teeth and use your thumb and index finger to control it. Employ a back-and-forth sawing motion while applying upward and downward pressure, as if you were drying your back with a towel.
  4. Repeat this technique on all your teeth.

Over an eight-week trial, the group of participants that learned this method showed a 70 percent reduction in gum bleeding, while the control group, who continued with their usual flossing habits, only achieved a 30 percent reduction.
